Product Details

Looking for an explosion of flavor that sure to tantalize your tastebuds? Look no further. Smoke Bomb delivers a 1 - 2 punch of smoky goodness through the use of smoked malt and smoky chipotle peppers.

Although it may seem a bit unusual, the dark, rich flavors of porter are the perfect pairing for chipotle peppers. The peppers have a dark, dried fruit character that draws out the flavors of crystal malt, while the smokiness of the peppers adds depth and complexity to smoked malt. Add in subtle notes of roast and bittersweet chocolate delivered with a spicy kick and you got yourself a bold brew that sure to raise a few eyebrows.

Enjoy a recipe that clinched the Silver Medal at the highly competitive 2013 National Homebrew Competition.

Smokey porter with a slight kick

This was an excellent beer. One of the best I’ve brewed overall. The beer has a wonderful Smokey aroma and taste along with a fantastic chipotle flavor as well. Personally i like Spivey so I opted for more chipotle peppers than the recipe calls for and I left them in the primary fermenter for the entire fermenting process. I am ordering now to make another batch.

No Bomb

This was a fun brew. adding dried chipotle peppers to the secondary was something new for me. The porter itself is thick, smooth, rich and delicious. The peppers added the smokiness as well as some subtle heat at the end. Very nice.

In addition, kudos to the brewers. I received the kit with a liquid yeast pouch pack that was inflated. After trading emails with the brewers, I proceeded with the brew. The inflation prevented me from "smashing" the internal packet until after actually opening the inflated packet. All got added. The brew worked great. Thanks for the guidance.

Tasty Hint of Heat

The instructions said to start out by using 2 peppers, to taste after a couple of days and add more if necessary. I just went with 4 peppers to begin. For me, this provided a lot of smoky flavor and a hint of heat that is a little light for me but that I trust others will be able to handle if sampled. Perfect for adding a little warmth to the shock of early Autumn.
