Product Details

An extra stir bar is a good idea in case you are doing more than one starter or as a backup. These things can get lost down the drain when cleaning out starter flasks after being pitched into a primary fermenter. Works great with a stir plate.

Always have a backup stir bar

I have lost a few stir bars and it is a good idea to have an extra or two on hand.

Pick up a stir plate too

This small magnet is better than the big one because it is much less likely to get thrown on my stir plate, especially at high speed.

I tested both and the small stir bar is less likely to get thrown while still generating enough displacement to completely mix the starter and keep the yeast in suspension.
