Excellent general purpose hop. These beer hops are well balanced for bittering and aroma potential.
Excellent general purpose hop with balanced bittering and aroma potential. The oldest hop variety grown in the US. Development: Unknown—suggested that it arose from hybridization of imported varieties and indigenous male hops. Usage: Dual purpose Aroma: Strong, floral and spicy Alpha Acids: 5.5 — 8.5% Beta Acids: 4.5 — 5.5% Co-Humulone: 36 — 42% of alpha acids Total Oil: 0.4 — 0.8 mls/100g Substitutions: Galena Typical Beer Styles: Ales (Aroma), Lagers (Bittering) and Stout; often used in reproductions of historical US beer styles

I use them with Cascade hops to get a nice citrusy taste and bittering for my IPAs._x000D_Its not too strong so I can use 1 ounce each for bittering, flavor, and aroma._x000D_

a good choice for bittering

It has a grapefruit like flavor and imparts a nice bitterness. I bought a pound of them a while back and have been using theme here and there and they are my bittering hop of choice. They go well in different styles like Lagers and Pale Ales.
