Product Details

Your new favorite session beer. Dense layers of malt, caramel, baking chocolate, and a hint of light-roast coffee give way to reveal a hop character you'll be surprised to find if you're used to drinking English brown ale.

It's brown, it's named after a large North American ungulate, and its name suggests oral incontinence. Ah, we market product with our minds, but we drink beer with our mouths! Which is why this American brown ale is your new favorite session beer.

Dense layers of malt, caramel, baking chocolate, and a hint of light-roast coffee give way to reveal a hop character you'll be surprised to find if you're used to drinking English brown ale. The finish is complex but balanced, and the gravity is not so high as to keep you from having another.

If you enjoyed Reindeer Spit, Black Dog Ale, or Big River Brown Ale, you'll love this kit!

Caribou Slobber Brown Ale

Made this kit, there are a few discrepancies in the instructions. First the kit states 6 weeks. However, in the instructions it states 2 weeks. Yet fermentation ended roughly 3 days in. The portion of the instructions where it talks about adding the hops for fifteen minutes, then waiting and doing the same for the second hops and the third. They never specify if you should remove the previous hops or add to.

I removed the previous hops and after two weeks of resting in my big 6 gal carboy it was complete. The ABV ended up at 4.98% and its the best ale I've made yet!

Turned out great. 2nd brown ale I have done and it was very consistent. This one required the "Fizz Pellets" which worked as they were supposed to. Tasted very good.

Pretty good

This was the first kit my son and I ever made.
So we really don't have a reference point. Pretty good I think (I enjoy brown ales).
First few bottles were kind of meh (but they were towards the tail end of the filling and we only waited 2 weeks)
Bottles that followed over time became better and better.
Would recommend waiting at least 3 weeks before opening bottles.
