Product Details

Biofine Clear is a clarifier made from Silicic Acid, SiO2, and is added to the secondary during the transfer from primary to secondary to precipitate yeast and other haze-causing particles. Biofine is a vegan product and is not derived from animals or animal by-products. Use can be as little as 1/4 Tbsp (1/10th fluid oz. or 3 ml) to as much as 2 Tbsp (1 fluid oz. or 30 ml) per 5 gallon batch of beer or wine.

i used it on two batches with no effect, whatever

Did nothing

Even after a week there was no difference in clarity that couldn't be contributed to a weeks worth of settling without any clearing agent. Added a pack of super klear and it cleared up in just over 2 days

Appears to work as well as gelatin with none of the hassles.

Effective at clearing your beer. It will give your beer the filtered appearance without stripping any flavor from it. Impress your friends that your homebrew looks this good.

I used it because I wanted to make some beer for Vegan friends. I used half an ounce and it probably helped a little to clarify my beer. I had already let the beer sit for four weeks in the primary, and the yeast had already begun to settle. When I racked it, for another few weeks of aging, it did seem to be clearer with the Biofine.
